In the temple of Banke Behari in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh India, the festival of colours is celebrated with exceptional devotion and joy. Vrindiavan is where Lord Krishna spent his youth and pursued Radha, his natural and divine partner. The festival celebrates the spring, the conquest of good over evil and one of the major episodes in Krishna's legend. Captured here is the moment the curtains are drawn back and the main image of Krishna is revealed to his devotees. It is a moment of rapture and spiritual fulfilment which is an annual tradition in India revived annually over the past 1500 years. Photographers from around the world travel to Vrindavan to shoot the Festival of Colours ( Holi) but I found that capturing it in black and white magnified the emotion and movement of the compositions.
