Behind The Lens

Location

This trestle spans the Kentucky River between two Counties in Kentucky. At this point, looking west, the tracks emerge from a tunnel through a hill and immediately hit the trestle! I set up at a road crossing a couple hundred yards down the track with 200 mm Zuiko zoom lends set to 134 mm on an Olympus E-5. Exposure was 1/50 sec at f/16. I snapped a series of images then quickly moved out of the way!

Time

This image was taken at 4pm on a nice September day.

Lighting

nothing special this day other than occasional clouds to contend with.

Equipment

Olympus E-5 camera with Olympus Zuiko 50-200 SWD zoom lens on Manfrotto 190 pro tripod.

Inspiration

This was on one of my day trips and I go prepared to photograph what ever catches my eye from landscapes to wildlife. I usually have two to three camera bodies with me, 6 to 8 lens, and some form of artificial lighting.

Editing

only post processing was to boost the color and soften some shadows.

In my camera bag

I WILL limit my equipment if hiking, but if on a road trip I will have a compact camera bag and a larger one. I usually have two to three camera bodies with me, 6 to 8 lens, and some form of artificial lighting.

Feedback

Be careful where you set up. Rail road right of way is private property and they can be finicky about it. I usually stay OUT of the way or try to find a vantage point alongside or at a road crossing.
