Behind The Lens
Location
This Photo was taken in Belgium in an old Military Complex called Fort Barchon. Thanx to my dear firiend Pala Teth who arranged the access to the comnplex during a photographer meetup in April 2018.Time
This was actually during the night but i guess once you underground you lose track of time of the day anyhow.Lighting
The backlight is created by a LED Lenser X.21.r.2 with a blue gel. My friend Martin Gerard helped me with the Nancy Nguyen from Denver Colorado posed for me so cool. The smoke behind her is created with a normal the vaporizer. I also added some red light from the front to create a better texture. The idea was to have blue on the backside and red from the fron on all the ripples.Equipment
I use a standard Canon. Nothing particulare special about it.Inspiration
Actually i was seeing her in the tunnel and my friend Martin was behind her with the torch. I took a quick shot with the mobile phone and was amazed by the look. That it self was soooo cool. Then i said i want to recreate this with the real camera ;-) And we did it.Editing
There is not much post processing. I just did a little crop and some minor tweeks in Lightroom. No Photoshop needed! In my camera bag
Of course i have my Camera in my everyday backpack and usually one or two extra lenses. I do love my 16-35mm 2.8 lense, but i usually i have 14mm 2.8 manual lens as well which lets you play better for more complex lighting situations. Yes and for some reason i wanna be ready whenever. I think i get a bit too crazy at times.Feedback
I think what makes that shot special is the pose and the backlight. This is what you need to practice in the night. Dont shine the big light directly into the camera (unless you want that effect) and try to make the shadows looong. try to be far behind the model.
