Behind The Lens
Location
This photogrpah was taken at White Pocket, Arizona.Time
It was taken about 1.5 hours after the sun set. With the last remains of the blue hour.Lighting
The lighting is done in two steps. First the light on the tree from straingt behind and just to the right from behind the rim in green. Second part is creating the light in the foreground from the right side of the frame. Thats done with a torch from a low angle so you get the nice texture of the rock.Equipment
The Canon EOS 5d Mark IV was of course on a tripod and teh lighting is done with two LED Lenser Flash lights. One with a RGB LED and the other just a normal one you can focus to a narrow beam.Inspiration
Some years a go i saw the tree in some blog and going to that place it self was triggered by seeing that very tree. The isolation of the treeEditing
There is only very little post processing. Important in my way of work is to get the lighting done before i sit on the PC. It makes ma take several pictures but i dont need to do so much later. So you see some crop and a minor color grading and de-noise.In my camera bag
My bag way to many things. I In difference to many i guess i always have Head Lamp to find my way around at night, i have several Flashlights in different colors, i always carry a romte trigger so i can photography and light up some subject by myself. For the most part i run around with a Laowa 12mm F2.8 or 14mm from Samyang wide angle lens or some portrait lens like the Canon 85mm 1.2 or one of my favourits the 70-200mm F2.8 Lens. On top of that i usually have a few acrylic rods or tubes to create some light painting with. You never know.Feedback
One of the key elements of the photography is the extreem low vantage point for the beautiful reflection and the texture of the rock formation which was created also withe the Torch brushing the rock from a low vantage point.
