Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the studio of a photographer friend. We were at a shoot with Elisa Pagano (beautiful model) and we tried various positions.

Time

3 years have passed since February 27, 2015 when I took this picture on that beautiful afternoon with friends. A whole day destined to take pictures!

Lighting

To take this picture I used a wooden cube where the model has positioned herself. The distance from the bottom (black) was about 1.5 meters and the light consisted of two studio flashes positioned on the left side of the subject. The distance from the background was necessary in order to avoid reflections or shadows on the backdrop

Equipment

In this case I used my Nikon D4S equipped with the Nikon 24-70 and positioned on the 70mm focal length. Iso 100; 1/160; f / 8. The shot was made freehand with the aid of 2 studio flashes positioned at different heights to give uniformity of illumination to the subject.

Inspiration

I particularly love the naked female body that appears from the dark. This picture is one of the many positions that I took to assume the model

Editing

I did not do particular post production. Mainly I developed the raw file by adjusting lights and shadows to my liking. I then opened the file in Photoshop and converted the photo in black and white with Silver Efex. I made the final adjustments and saved.

In my camera bag

Normally in my bag there are now my current camera bodies composed of Nikon D850 and Nikon D5. Always present on 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200 f / 2.8 Nikon. I often take with me the 85 f / 1.4

Feedback

There are no special secrets in making this photo. It is important to balance the lights to avoid having to correct the photo in post-production. A good photo is definitely better than a good post-production!
