Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in Anholter Switzerland Biotope Wildlife Park on March 10, 2018.

Time

It was 10.17 hrs AM, a grey day with some sun occasionally

Lighting

The lighting was not not to bad at that moment but I needed an ISO of 800 to get the action. These animals were quite busy dominating each other so no moment to take your time. With a 1/800 f6.3 not to bad result

Equipment

At that time I was using my Nikon D7200 and Tamron SP 150-600.

Inspiration

Wolves are amazing creatures and I never saw this kind of action. These wolves live in a park in quite a big area. I believe there were in total 10 -15 wolves who were able to do their thing. This dominating of one of the wolves was impressive to watch.

Editing

Yes, did post-processing of this photo. The original file looked amazing already but in B&W, for me, it was more impressive in some way.

In my camera bag

Well, nowadays I work with a Fuji XT-3 and a 100-400 lens for this kind of pictures. At that time I was using my Nikon D7200 and Tamron SP 150-600 without flash or tripod.

Feedback

Advice is hard to give I think... But here is some anyways Try to get the focus on the eyes. If shooting with high ISO try to get the composition right the first time and as close as possible so you don't need to crop. This will give noisy pictures. On the other hand, don't be afraid to use higher ISO because sometimes you need it to get a better shutter speed. I sometimes use ISO 1600 just to get it done ;-)
