Behind The Lens

Location

his shot was taken during a visit at a bird observation close by a place called Espelo in The Netherlands

Time

I had an early start that day due to the long drive from my home. This photo was taken around 12.40 hrs

Lighting

That day it was enormous hot. Clear sky and the sun was horrible for the lighting. But, as we were a little bit into a forest, depending on where the birds landed, I was able to make some nice shots. This was one of them

Equipment

This photo was made with my Nikon D7200 and the Tamron SP-AF 150-600mm F5-6.3

Inspiration

Shooting wildlife is an inspiring journey. Photographing birds is sometimes a stressful job. These little creatures never, ever do what you like them to do. That makes it exciting too. So, this was one of the many visitors that day and, I have to be honest, I only saw it at home how lucky I was with this photo. The little friend posing in a beautiful light with a beautiful background.

Editing

For my post-processing, I use Lightroom and Photoshop. For this one I only used Lightroom. I rarely use Photoshop unless the photo subject is too special not to use it.

In my camera bag

Depending on what plans I have for a shoot I carry specific equipment for that shoot. Most of the time that was My Nikon D7200. Nowadays it's a Fuji XT-3. I still use them both with all kinds of glass. Only indoors I use a flashlight.

Feedback

If you're interested in bird photography with a somewhat good chance to get a nice photo, see if you can find a good observation post. If this observation post is well situated there is a good chance. For most people, just the bird is enough and they are not really bothered about the background. I'm always looking for a good background and often found out that if you're patient enough, nature comes to you ;-)
