Location
This photo was taken at the Orchideeën Hoeve in Flevoland, The Netherlands. At that time I was just started with my Nikon D7200 and macro photography.Time
I'd make plans with friends to visit the location because of the beautiful plants and animals. It's a huge greenhouse and in the morning it seemed the best time to visit it because of the incoming light.Lighting
As said, I was in a greenhouse, so you're actually depending on the weather conditions outside. I remember that it was somewhat cloudy that day. The sun was behind the clouds now and then. I didn't bring a flash with me, so I had to wait for the right situationEquipment
This flower was shot with my Nikon D7200 and Tamron 70-300mm Macro lens with nothing else.Inspiration
The greenhouse is full of plants and small animals. It's open fro the public and you just can walk around to watch plants, butterfly, ducks etc. So, I was walking around looking at everything beautiful. And there it was.... I remember that I needed to wait for some good light before I was able to take the picture.Editing
I did use Lightroom to crop the photo and change exposure a bit.In my camera bag
At that time I owned a Nikon D7200 body's and as I'm not specialized in any specific discipline, it really depends on what I take with me on a trip. Now I own a Fuji X-T3 with lenses and the Nikon is not used much. For both bodies, I have lenses for any situation. Depending on what I want to do I have just one or two lenses with me. Sometimes a tri-pod and flash.Feedback
If you have the chance, go out and practice to capture something similar. For any subject, it's trial and error. Still is for me as well. Orchids are not found everywhere. I have the luck there is a huge greenhouse which I can visit. This is an orchid but any flower can be the subject. Know your camera, try to imaging how (in some way) you want to be the result, Use a flash if you need to. Try a different setting on the camera while you're there. Most of all, have fun!!
