Behind The Lens
Location
I shot this precious child at my grand-niece's b'day. Everyone was bustling around as she sat entertained by the window with its soft light.Time
This was taken mid-afternoon with the light gently filtering in through this side of the house.Lighting
The diffused light from the window allowed the skin tones to have a nice soft radiance.Equipment
I was moving through the party goers taking those shots indicative of fun of family events. I used my Nikon D5300 with a Tamron mid-range zoom. This made it easy to capture expressions and not be so close that the natural behaviours would become unnatural.Inspiration
Recording family gathering and occasions is part of almost every photographer's (no matter the level of proficiency) 'duties' lol... I loved the light, as I mentioned.Editing
I used LR to post-process but did not add very many changes. Most often, I strive for a natural edit. For family events, I think this is the best way to go.In my camera bag
Nikon D5300, Tamron 18-400mm lens, Nikon Macro, and always... cleaning cloths for the smears that get on my glasses from pressing the camera too hard against my face. lol.Feedback
I try to keep indoor shots using as much natural light as possible. This prevents an extreme white balance problem and makes the skin tones soft and natural.
