this is a large coconut crab which was being offered as a food item at a seafood market in Manilla, Philippines. I have seen a few little ones in the past but nothing close to this size.
The coconut crab is a species of terrestrial hermit crab, also known as the robber crab or palm thief. It is the largest land-living arthropod in the world.
