Behind The Lens

Location

I set up a black backdrop in my friends double garage and had her sit down on the backdrop. And space big enough for a backdrop will be suitable to do this kind pf photo.

Time

It was around 10-11am, being in a double garage allowed for lovely natural light to come in for the photoshoot

Lighting

It was purely natural light that I enhanced with editing techniques, dodging and burning.

Equipment

I used my 7D and 35mm F2 lens. I had a large PVC black backdrop on stands for the background.

Inspiration

I had been following Kelly Robitaille for a while, before she launched her tutorials on how to achieve her unique look. Before the tutorial I tried creating my take on Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride, and most of the effect comes from post processing.

Editing

I did extensive post processing, from creating the blue skin, to major body altering to achieve the skeleton look. I think in total I spent 4 hours on this image from start to finish.

In my camera bag

I work almost exclusively with my 35mm and have a 6D mk2 and 7D in my bag :) I also have a 10-22mm and a 50mm f1.8 and have just added a Tokina 16-28mm

Feedback

Patience, art isn't created in 10 minutes. Take your time, learn from videos and tutorials. Expand your skill set and play! Play lots! With experimenting comes magic. Create images you are excited abou. I'm obsessed with Tim Burton, so this for me was incredible fun to do
