This was taken in our living room: Sammy was sitting on our sofa, looking out the window at the birds at our birdfeeder, so it was a spur-of-the moment photo using natural light.Time

It was natural light, coming in through the window. This room only has windows on the one wall, so the background was partially in shadow.Equipment
This was hand held, using my Canon EOS 7D Mark II and my Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro lens, without flash.Inspiration
I try to take at least one photo every week of my dogs, and when I saw Sammy sitting in this light, I took the opportunity to grab this photo.Editing
There was an awkward shadow line from the corner of the room in the background so I blended that out in PhotoShop.In my camera bag
I have just graduated to mirrorless, so currently if have my new Canon EOS R5, Canon RF 100-500 F4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens, Canon RF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM Lens, Canon RF 1.4X Extender, plus an extra battery and extra memory cards.Feedback
Always be ready to take a photo no matter what lens you have on the camera...I have found that the 100 mm Macro does a good job as a portrait lens!
