Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a mulch flower bed at my apartment complex in the San Francisco Bay Area

Time

I originally saw these mushrooms around 3 in the afternoon, I went bowling at 6:00pm and returned home between 9:30 & 10:00 pm. I shot this when I returned, as I thought they were beautiful and could not pass up the opportunity to capture them

Lighting

As this was shot at 10pm or so I used a flash

Equipment

I'm almost embarrassed to say this was shot with a cell phone camera.

Inspiration

I have taken years of photography classes and am always looking for something to shoot that would be different and not just a copy of what other photographers have done, however I am truly inspired by others images and will store away in my memory how someone had captured a image so I can make use of their technique.

Editing

No post processing, image is as taken

In my camera bag

I still like doing a lot of film photography and aside from a old sony and cell phone cam they are the extent of my digital format. I use a old Canon AE1 with multiple lenses, a Bronica 2 1/4, I still have my B&W Darkroom with a Bessler 23 Enlarger and a complete Studio Lighting set up with flash heads, back drops, softbox, snoots, barn doors, all the bells and whistles.

Feedback

Take some classes, get critiqued by your peers, I have been lucky to dabble a lot in different genre's including landscape, portrait, boudoir, weddings, candid, still life. The more you shoot the better you will become and you develop your eye for shots. Look at the world like your looking thru the lens and see the shot before you shoot it. Take multiple exposures to much is never enough. Enjoy your craft.
