Yes, that pool is steaming. It's the Black Pool, a hot spring on the surface of the supervolcano of Yellowstone National Park. The pool was black in the past, so it wasn't originally given a misnomer. But these geothermal areas don't sit still for long. As other vents and springs opened up, the pool became superheated. The extreme temperatures began to slowly kill some of the dark bacteria, and, after one particularly forceful eruption in 1991, it cleared to the rich blue we see today.

Black Pool is located in the West Thumb Geyser Basin. Beyond we see Yellowstone Lake.
