Awol the cat has brilliant eyes, even when his pupils aren't contracted by the sun. Here, he's irritated by something, and that expression shows in his turned ears and mildly agitated face. It's the trademark scowl of a feline. (Combine the name of that look with the distressed 'mroww' of a cat, and you get the portmanteau I've made the title, which also sounds like 'growl', something Awol might do if he was a bigger animal.)
