Location
This photo was taken at Mesa Arch, Canyonlands National Park, UT.Time
This was taken early morning right after sunrise. There were at least 20 other photographers trying to take this iconic sunburst through the Arch.Lighting
This is a classic photo with the soft morning light hitting the underside of the arch making it glow red. The view of the canyon lands through the arch basking in the soft morning sun gives the scene an ethereal feel.Equipment
This was shot using a Canon Rebel T6i with a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 lens mounted on a Dolica tripod.Inspiration
The grand view of the canyon valley below the arch and the lighting on the arch during sunrise is what inspired me to take this photo.Editing
Of course this photo was post processed. This image was taken as a set of three bracketed exposures and merged using photoshop. I did some corrections to white balance and added some local adjustments to get the final image. In my camera bag
I have since switched over to Nikon. Right now I have a Nikon D750 body with a 24-120 f/4 and Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 wide angle lens. I also have a Vanguard Veo 2 235CB travel tripod. I use Breakthrough Filters and always carry a 6 stop and a 10 stop with me. I also carry a Tiffen Circular Polarizer.Feedback
Mesa Arch and most of Southern Utah has a lot of photo opportunities during sunrise all through out the year. The soft lighting and the desert landscape complement each other perfectly. My only advise is to get there early, find your composition and keep clicking. Also, carry a long telephoto lens (70-200) and try to isolate your subject during golden hour. There are a lot of photo opportunities here.
