My hands holding the blade over the stone getting read to sharpen it. I use it mainly a bush craft knife. This is just one of about five different knives I have, but this small one was my first and is my favourite.

Thank you. I haven't posted many, I wanted to have a look at what other people were posting first before I decided if I wanted to upgrade and post any of my better ones. I have loads, but need to change the sizes before I can upload them.

Location
The photo was taken in my home. A vast majority of my photographs are taken outside, so taking this one at home was a new experience.Time
I remember just how bright the sun shone through the window on this mid summer afternoon, as the camera was pointing toward that window, tilted down toward my hands. Trying to get the shot just right, without glare or reflection from the strong sun proved challenging to say the least.Lighting
Artificial light for this particular shot just didn't work, either in colour or monotone, neither did changing the time of day the shot was done. I needed natural light, but without glare or reflection. It took several failed shots of trying to sit in the exact position in order to get natural light, but still have the direct glare behind my back, not on the camera or shot.Equipment
I used my first camera, a Nikon Coolpix L320. A basic camera with limited features, but has taken some amazing shots. The tripod used was one I'd picked up quite cheap. It was un-named, had extending, thin legs, but tripod that fit as a screw-in to the base of the camera were few and far between. No flash or other equipment used.Inspiration
The knives have to be sharp for cutting rope, string or kindling prep for a small camp fire. This particular stone has to be soaked in water for up to 24 hours before use. I was preparing for a week away camping, so the knives and camera were on the table at the same time. It dawned on me when I initially started sharpening the knife blade on the stone, that many, if not all of my shots were whilst out and about, I had none of the actual preparation done prior. It was more of an "I wonder what it would look like" moment when I thought about how this shot would look. It never hurts to think outside the box and be creative.Editing
Not on this photograph. When I took this shot, I was still extremely new to post processing, and learning on my own took some time.In my camera bag
When out exploring and never know what I may find, so take out three with me. I have an old Fujifilm S1500 as a last resort backup, my old faithful Nikon Coolpix L320 and a large, heavy Nikon D3100, along with two macro zoom lenses. I stopped taking tripod's out with me, the terrain is usually very uneven or too soft so a heavy camera and tripod. I've always found something as a good replacement though. All flashes are in-built, so no external ones. I always have a small dust cloth, dust blower and a mini converted umbrella to keep random rain spots off the lens.Feedback
Never be afraid to experiment. Even if you think something will be a terrible shot, take it anyway, it may surprise you and push you to broaden your horizons.
