The little white dog is a 100% pure white English Jack Russell. (The difference e from other Jack Russell's being that the English has a shorter rounder body and a square head), next to him, his accomplice in many antics, a Rottweiler cross Terrier.
Both were bred and unwanted by their respective owners, but only the Rottweiler (Oscar) experienced a most traumatic, horrifying life until he came to live with me and the Jack Russell (Spud).
Oscar had no idea how to play or how to hold a bone chew between his feet. It was actually Spud who taught him.
One time of the year they both loved was Christmas. I spent so many days preceding the event picking up wrapped toys saying the words 'Oscar's' (placing one in front of him) then do the same for Spud. It got to the point where Oscar, who had never felt love, cuddles, his own toys or own patch of my bed, started to recognise which presents were for him, so each time he passed the tree, he'd pause and gently poke just his presents with his nose. One thing he loved more than Christmas, was kisses. It was while I was playing with him kissing his neck that he actually looked like he was smiling.
I loved every minute indoors and out with them, giving them both all the love and attention they'd never previously known, like I was showing them a better side of life, a safer side.
While Spud was anything but camera shy, if Oscar didn't want his photo taken, then Spud followed suit and refused too, both of them looking the other way.
