El Castillo de la Inmaculada Concepción del Río San Juan, como se le conocía anteriormente, era una fortaleza española, sus ruinas se admiran y se visitan hoy en día en el margen del Río San Juan y frente al raudal de Santa Cruz, fue mandada a construir por la corona española en el año 1672 con motivo de la invasión del pirata Gallardillo a la ciudad de Granada.
