Location
This was shot on some private property that my brother-in-law and I had permission to hunt near my home in MontanaTime
We started hunting the nearby mountains before dawn and were returning when we stopped so I could take some pics of the old homestead. My meta data shows it was 10:13 am on Nov 8th 2014Lighting
The weather, and therefore the lighting, can change very fast in Montana. We had a beautiful red sunrise that morning followed by blue skies and then this storm cloud came rolling in as we were leaving the property and going by the old homestead. The original shows blue skies above the storm cloud with thin wispy clouds high in the distant skies.Equipment
While hunting I usually only carry a small pocket camera. This was a Kodak Z950. At sunrise or sunset if the light is low I will use my shooting stick to steady the cameraInspiration
The clouds, duh. And this photo? Took a bunch of photos of this building, zoomed in and out , and other old abandoned ranch buildings nearby. Thank God he moved that clouds slowly.Editing
Don't recall what all I did on this one other than converting to B&W. On most of my photos I go thru a routine that includes straightening, cropping, turning down highlights, turning up shadows, adjust the histogram, add a little color saturationIn my camera bag
While hunting I usually only take a small pocket camera. The event will determine the equipment. I have one bag with all my Nikon D3200 equipment, another with my Canon 70D equipment, 1 bag with accessories including filters cleaning equipment, rain cape. I also use a fishing vest for hiking. I used to shoot 35mm film with Minolta equipment and still use those lens with adapters for my dslr's. Still use my Minolta auto bellows with macro lens. Have several tripods, rain capeFeedback
