This photo was taken in the garden of my friends art studio. At the time of this photo we were doing some collaboration work and I was making music to play alongside his visual arts and by chance I took my camera so we could keep track of our creation progress and due to the wonderful summer sun it turned out to be a fine opportunity for some shooting.Time
I do love the depth and vibrance in colour in this image. We took a break from the studio and head into the studio garden to bask in some of the sun and discuss our progress so far. It was just after lunch, maybe 2-2:30pm when this shot was taken and the afternoon sun was glistening down on all the plant life bringing out the beauty in the natural worlds colour and I couldn't resist but to get snap happy at such an hour.Lighting
With this image I was very fortunate to have a perfect summers day to accompany the days shooting so a few experimental angles and the final result being this which I was rather pleased with.Equipment
As a self taught photographer and huge fan of film photography I always try to keep a camera of some description handy on my outings. This particular day I had my Nikon D60 with the standard 18-55mm lens and that was all.Inspiration
I suppose the inspiration that caused me to shoot this image was the reflection of emotion I felt from the subject. It really mirrored how I was feeling that minute of that day, bright, soothing and vibrantly alive with colour.Editing
This particular shot really didn't need a lot of enhancing due to the striking shade of the plant itself and the delightful lighting of the day. I slightly brought up the saturation a touch and that was the job done.In my camera bag
As I mentioned earlier, I am completely self taught in photography and take photo's purely as a passionate hobby. I always try where possible to be equipped with a camera of some description weather it be an Olympus Trip or my Nikon SLR. I suppose it just all depends on where I am going and what mood I am in.Feedback
I think my three key bits of advice would be; 1. To make the most of every sunny day as each one is a prime opportunity for a shoot with natures help of lighting. 2. Always be equipped with a camera so no matter when the chance arrives you are prepared to capture it. 3. Stay vigilant to what is around you, you needn't travel far for a lovely shot.
