This is the Polish memorial at Mauthausen. Mauthausen, one of the most notorious Nazi concentration camps, located near the village of Mauthausen, on the Danube River, 12 miles (20 km) east of Linz, Austria. It was established in April 1938, shortly after Austria was annexed to Nazi Germany. It is a example of oppression taken to the extreme. The camp was liberated in May of 1945 by the US Army. I can tell you it is an eye opener and hard to believe anything like it could ever exist. These statues and grave markers are just one of the reminders of what can happen..
