The very first title of this photo was "Play must go on", but maybe it was a bit too complicated for anyone who did not know what to deal with, so I changed the title to "Toy from a Bosnian childhood". I remember the times of war in the Balkans, I was little child. Remember the fear that pushed us to hide in improvised and unsafe shelters, we went through days not knowing if our fathers would come home, we could hear the explosions and shootings of all kinds, all this noise mixed with the prayers of our moms. We were oppressed by a sense of total uncertainty, no one could guarantee that we will see tomorrow. But anyway, in all of us children prevailed the desire to live, desire to go out and play. So we did, we played and we went biking, I recall that once I spent all day hiding behind a cement wall because while I was riding a bike, I became a target for a sniper, I ended up behind a wall, with heart beat inside my throat. I waited until the dark to get home. So, in this photo is represented this child playing, pure and without malice, even if he play with a weapon of death. I think no one should be deprived of the right to dream and plan his own future.
