Behind The Lens

Location

Cape Elizabeth, Maine. It was my first visit to Maine but it won't be my last.

Time

It was late June, just before noon. I had been at the park for about 30 minutes when the rain stopped and the sun appeared. The clouds went from dark rain clouds to what you see here.

Lighting

Once the rain stopped the natural lighting was perfect.

Equipment

I took dozens and dozens of photos with my Canon but this cell phone picture ended up being my favorite from the afternoon. I snapped it quickly with my Galaxy S6 to send to a friend. There was no extra equipment.

Inspiration

I wanted to share with a friend. I knew they would enjoy the entire scene. I always try to capture photos that I know that I will like but sometimes extra inspiration is nice.

Editing

Just a quick "auto-contrast" and "auto correct" with Snapseed.

In my camera bag

Normally, I carry a Canon SL1. I have a 50mm and two zooms. I prefer the monopod, as opposed to the traditional tripod. I don't like to use flash and prefer the natural lighting nature has to give.

Feedback

My best advice is to judge all of your photos equally, whether it's taken with a DLSR or an old cell phone. On the right day, the elements are perfect and the photo comes out beautifully.
