I had a great time exploring two area's of Japan: The Kumano region, which is a UNESCO world heritage site, and the city of Kyoto. Both areas are rich in history and well preserved. Temples of the Buddhist and Shinto religions are everywhere. Many of them holding great significance for their respective followings.
While in Kyoto, I visited several of the well known rock gardens, known for holding space for meditation & contemplation. Here is Megan taking in 1 the of 5 rock gardens at Ryogen-In Temple in Kyoto. We arrived first thing in the morning to avoid some of the crowds that inevitably descend on these tranquil locations.
