Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture at my families Walnut Grove. This is near Bloomington, IL. My Grandpa and Grandma, Dr Earl E Lutz and Nola Lutz(pronounced Lootz), planted 1500 Walnut trees when they moved back to Illinois from Pennsylvania. The family nicknamed it "Walnut Grove" and it still is called that today. This view of the trees is my favorite because at the end the trees cross and looks like a church steeple.

Time

I love going for a walk here because it is silent. In the city one gets caught up with the noise and the bustle of everyday life. I tend to forget to take a step back and breath. Here I can breath and take a step back and hear everything. I usually get out here mid morning due to time commitments.

Lighting

I shot this in both color and black and white. The black and white shot I felt showed the beauty of the trees and how I see the peace of being here.

Equipment

I used a NikonD810 camera with my favorite lens, 28 to 300mm lens. I did not use any other equipment.

Inspiration

I felt an overwhelming peace when I shot this picture. It was as if my Grandpa was with me at this moment. He was the best person I know/knew.

Editing

The only thing post processing I did was I increased the shadows to make it a little more dramatic. I think it makes the person viewing it wonder more.

In my camera bag

I carry my Nikon D810 body with my favorite lens.(28-300mm lens) 1 extra battery and a few extra memory cards. Outside the bag, I carry a tripod so I can catch the best shots. Out here I can leave my bag in my car since it is my families.

Feedback

I am still learning how to take good shots. The best thing I can tell someone is to be patient, have fun and find something that speaks to you as an individual. Find what speaks to you and run with it! God uses us to capture his beauty in this world.
