The Deer Skull Still Life
This Mule Deer skull is naturally weathered and sun bleached. It was fun putting this still life together and waiting for the right light and the right amount of blossoms for backdrop. I love the old hollow Mexican Oak stump, it has traveled all over our gardens as an accent piece. The angle of the skull draws ones attention upon first viewing this still life. The Cholla Cactus makes a great accent and the muted red of the red sage is the perfect backdrop for this composition. The hot New Mexico morning sun gave enough intense light to make the texture of the horns surface stand out.
