Location
I took this photo at Honeoye Lake in western New York state at the end of summer. The lake was quiet, and the weather was already starting to change. It struck me as peaceful and lonely at the same time, much like the feeling of transition between summer days and the life change that comes with autumn.Time
I took this at the end of the day, just before twilight. It was cloudy and beginning to feel like the weather was going to change soon. The sky reflected that.Lighting
I like the times of day when the lighting is not so harsh, such as twilight and dawn, particularly when photographing a scene with water.Equipment
I shot this with my iPhone 8.Inspiration
I was inspired by the feelings created by the end of summer--anticipation, excitement, change, melancholy The lone canoe tied up by an empty dock in front of the empty lake created that feeling for me.Editing
I used Enlight to bring out colors in the clouds and dehaze the sky. I used the tilt effect function to blur out the distance and focus on the line of sight of the canoe. In my camera bag
Usually just my Nikon DSLR and my iphone11.Feedback
Always look for the quiet moments to photograph. Spend time with the picture after and try to recreate the feelings of that moment by using your editing equipment.
