Well, they don't look that much alike to me . . . but the image is still really cute. ッ

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a small, dark flat on a grey rainy day. The girls were just messing about playing with relaxed, easy poses.

Time

A late summer afternoon, where the sun should have been streaming golden through the windows. But it wasn't. Instead, the rain was hammering on the glass like it wanted to break in.

Lighting

A single speedlight mounted on the camera in a dull room. Sometimes the blindingly simple really works

Equipment

My trusty Lumix GX8, handheld, with a speedlight mounted on top. A 14-150mm lens set somewhere in the middle. It's a beautifully well balanced camera that responds well to the strange and unusual conditions I present it with.

Inspiration

People playing around and having fun is always inspiring. But when the subjects look this good...well who could resist?

Editing

I have a nice old version of Photoshop. I bumped up the vibrance and sharpness a little to give it that nice, studio feel. Then I really gave that pink wall a boost to give that little 'Barbie' feel to the picture.

In my camera bag

My Lumic GX8 comes everywhere with me. An Olympus 14-150mm lens covers most things. An Olympus 75-300mm lens covers the rest. A nice little Lumix speedlight fills up the space between the packet of extra strong mints and the bar of chocolate. It's a smallish camera with a massive punch....and always leaves plenty of space in my bag. :)

Feedback

Play. If you don't know how to do something, just play! Then after that, try and remember what you did so that you can try it again another day. It's too easy to get hung up on complicated settings and then miss the fun, the art, the creativity of what your're trying to do. After all, who would ask Leonardo da Vinci what kind of brushes he uses? Have fun! :)
