I have learned more lessons in the last thirty six months than perhaps the rest of my life. For me, that's saying a lot! After years as a child traveling the US and living for more years in South America, to be slogging through yet more teaching at the hand of the Lord, I should be crawling, one would think!

Actually, the opposite is true! Some of those lessons have been repeats, others completely new, but I have had one advantage, to see them in the perspective of maturity, which now implies wisdom. They say hindsight is 20-20. But for the fool, looking back over life is merely a glance into nothing, for a fool learns nothing from experience. People of God are supposed to gain from hard knocks! And surely they come!

God does bless the righteous, if we obey him! Yes, righteousness does come with persecution, but so does blessing, and that is clear in scripture. Perhaps in our generation, no more clear than the state of this nation with confusion reigning from the judiciary, sending good people to jail, or fining them hundreds of thousands of dollars, raining destruction on cities. We CAN learn from these things!

When Houston was dumped on from the skies, more than ten trillion gallons of water deluged the city and approximately 500,000 people lost their homes. Yet help in fhe form of the Cajun Navy poured into the city, churches became centers of distribution and the hand of God was evident everywhere as thousands more helped with every necessity of life, shelter, food, clothing. It's been estimated only five hundred people died during the natural disaster. A website is setup where people can donate to help.

The church has been deep into the recovery of Houston, and the nation HAS seen God's people care for others in a way that reached the White House with its effect on the entire country as people watch Christians react to catastrophe.

God has indeed been in this disaster as people reached out to other people. He has surrounded millions in the midst of seeming madness.
