It becomes fairly difficult to describe a friendship. Some are very intimate as the bond between my wife and I became. Some are close, bridging time, space, condition, leaning on each other in moments or months of trouble.
One thinks of a kiss being between lovers, and it is so. But the feeling of the closeness of the soul crosses sometimes even the intimacy of lovers, not in a physical sense, but an emotional one, intellectually sharing what cannot pass as cultural. A trusted friend as Proverbs intones, sticks closer than a brother. When trouble comes, a beloved friend carries us through valleys of hurt, paths of sorrow, and eventually, into the sun of joy.
