Location
This photo was taken at Devils Hopyard Park in East Haddam, CT. The location is great because you park and then this scene is only right across the street. Very easy to get you and a super enjoyable location to photograph.Time
This was an early afternoon. The park is about a 1.5 hour commute for my friend and I, so by the time we met up, got our gear together, and drove, we arrived in the early afternoon. Some others were there too swimming so we waited for them to move and during that time looked for compositions and spots to setup our tripods.Lighting
Not really on this one. The day had some slight cloud coverage but we wanted long exposures anyways so we were using ND filters. This was a single exposure too which was nice.Equipment
Nikon D750 with the kit 18-105. I was using a random cheap tripod at the time that I purchased from Best Buy.Inspiration
The friend in the image and I love exploring our surrounding areas and trying to find new places to photograph. We stumbled across this park via social media and decided to plan the trip and get out there. Putting someone in the frame watching the fall made the image tell more about the location and gave with more of a wow factor. Seeing him sitting there shows comparison of how large the fall is and also shows how we just stopped to admire the beauty.Editing
Light post processing in LR. Some vibrance boost, slight clarity and some bumps in whites. Highlights were probably dropped a bit as well to bring the sky out more. Single exposure too.In my camera bag
Currently my bag consists of the Nikon D750, DJI mavic pro, Nikkor 16-35 f/4, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4, and an older Nikkor 70-210 f/4.Feedback
Browse social media, there are lots of Facebook groups local to my area where everyone shares great spots to hike, shoot, or go to. Get a nice 10 stop ND filter so you can run long exposures in broad day light and have at it!
