Location
The photo was taken at a local gym, in one of their yoga studios.Time
Was night time but didn’t matter since we were insideLighting
Wanted a darker image with more contrast on it. Also only wanted part of her face lit up. So positioned one light to the left side of image and then used a second light to right side of image to just catch her hair some and make it not be completely blackEquipment
No tripod. Cheap yogonu speedlites, 2 soft boxes with diffusers, and I think for this one I was using my t3i at the timeInspiration
Wanted something that could be used in a magazine or website posting, that would have an article to go with it. Or have some text overlay on it.Editing
Used mostly Lightroom for the post processing since I was not too handy with photoshop at the time. Plus it didn’t require much editing since I planned out my lighting ahead of timeIn my camera bag
Back then a t3i and a cheap 50mm lens, some lights, and any lens I rented. Now an Eos R with rf24-105 f 4 and 70-200f2.8 plus more lights and modifiersFeedback
Play around with light positioning a lot. Even the smallest movement or angle change can make a big difference also don’t get frustrated if you can’t get exactly what you wanted in camera, since you can go back and make some changes in light room or photoshop. Also watch videos on lighting to get a better understanding of how to use it to portray different moods
