2 Corinthians 12:9-10 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

When I was in junior high and high school, admitting a weakness was a surefire way of getting picked on to make certain your weakness was exposed to the world around you. I was short, so all the short jokes came out. I was slow, so every sports team left me until last. I was then an ugly duckling, so I had one date in all my time in secondary school. My first date at Moody Bible Institute wouldn't talk to me after one outing!

God uses our weaknesses to develop our character. For a long time I moped about being short, slow and plain, so dwelling on my issues merely meant that I confirmed all the devil lied to me. I finally sought the word of God after my girlfriend of my college years challenged my angry outlook and began to pray. There is nothing like the change which overtakes one's face and actions when God becomes the focus of your life. For so many, that focus becomes the smile on your face, the twinkle of your eyes, the attraction to your life.
