Wow! I can never seem to capture a snowflake like this! This is fantastic!

Location
Cambridge Ontario, my backyardTime
I took this photo late morning, early afternoon.Lighting
Only natural light was used. I shot this photo outside.Equipment
This photo was taken using my nifty $10.00 macro extension tubes attached to my Sigma 70-300 mm lens in manual mode. Shot this wide open, adjusting only my body to focus.Inspiration
I was looking to capture the best macro of a snowflake that I could with my existing equipment.Editing
Post processing was done in Lightroom 4, working on sharpening and blue split toning. In my camera bag
I usually run with my Canon 7D, Tokina 11-16 mm wide angle lens, Sigma 70-300 mm, Canon EF 50mm 1.8Feedback
If you are looking to experiment with Macro photo, I highly recommend purchasing some macro extension tubes first. They are inexpensive and will hone your manual focusing skills. If you find you have a love for all things macro, then fork out the cash for some real glass.
