I made all the modifications to this canoe in my art studio over the winter and here I am working on the sail rig. Also the rudder is visible in this shot. It is made of thick aluminium plate and can be hauled up to continue working in shallow water. The same for the centreboard. By widening the hull I was able to fit in two rowing stations. I will spend the Spring rowing in my pond with a piece of bungee cord attached to the stern so I can row against a flexible resist rather than scoot across to the other side, then in the summer it will be time to launch in the ocean and row and sail, getting into shape for a major rowing challenge, 50 miles around our Saltspring Island in one day.
