Such a stellar shot. I should have commented on it a while ago, this is a great image. I love the tension and power your model has. It's a great frozen moment.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photos were taken in a gym called "Kraftwerk – the fitness company" in Kirchberg near Bern, Switzerland.

Time

We started with the shooting at 10:00 and ended at 12:15.

Lighting

The only light was only the ambient light in the gym. So there where not perfect light conditions but I used the somewhat low light conditions for the grainy look of the pictures.

Equipment

For this shooting I used my beloved 50 mm prime, my Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art Zoom and my 85mm prime. For this picture the Sigma 24-35mm at 35mm has been used. No additional gear (such as reflectors, flashes etc.) were used.

Inspiration

The goal was to make some cool boxing and fitness style portraits.

Editing

After selecting the photos I choose the color look for each set, then I correct, if necessary, the light of the picture a little bit. Then I cropped the pic and last but not least, a light beauty retouching has been done.

In my camera bag

At this time for my portrait shootings I always used my full format DSLR with a set of (relatively) fast primes: The 50mm, a 85mm, a 105mm and sometimes the 135mm as well and the magnificent Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art Zoom, if I wish a slightly wider angle.

Feedback

Go for a hopefully posesafe and relaxed model in a good mood. Then choose your shooting location and watch the light during the shoot. Use manual control at your camera and then nothing stands in the way of photos in this style.
