Location
This shot was taken in the Dolomites area, near the refuge Lagazuoi during the winter season.Time
This was taken during the dawn, was an interesting cloudy morning, the perfect weather condition to capture shots with a great atmosphere. I was with two friends there and I remember it was very cold, mystical, and special spotlights were created in different scenarios. This is just one of these.Lighting
I wanted a mysterious image, able to draw the viewer into the majestic of nature. There was a beautiful light coming from the left of the image that created this contrast between fog, clouds, light and shadows. I decided to add drama and an epic vision to this shot. Many times we need to say thanks to the nature to prepare different weather condition.Equipment
The equipment I used for this shot is: Canon 6D, Canon 70-200 F4 IS USM, Manfrotto Trepod, Lowepro BagInspiration
It was an intuition. Light waves appeared here and there, but the brightest light was in a less 'photographed' area. I imagined the final photo as I watched the scene, so I tried to compose the photo to the best of my intent. I think it will be virtually impossible to rebuild a scenario like the one I took in this photo.Editing
Yes I did. This is a single shot, worked with Adobe Photoshop and Camera Raw. I used basically the luminosity masks, I tried to enfatize the clouds and the lights keeping the shadows readable. I adjusted the color tones according to my taste. In my camera bag
In my backpack I have many things, I try to list everything below: - Canon 6D - Lee, Nisi, Hoya Filters (GND & ND) - Remote control - Canon 16-35 F4 (my favorite lens) - Canon 24-105 F4 - Canon 70-200 F4 - Led Lenser Torch - Star Adventure Mini I am currently using a Sirui Tripod / headFeedback
We have to keep our eyes open, sometimes the weather conditions change fast and you have to be quick and fast to take a picture of the perfect moment. Try to photograph while keeping your eye on the surrounding environment so you can resume the most interesting scenarios with the best light. It is very important to set up the camera well from the beginning, and it may be very useful go ahead using the braketing exposures.
