Shooting this immense but interesting structure ( Kinsol trestle, S. Vancouver Island )was a challenge on this bright Fall day. The limited light range of a camera meant that if i exposed for the shadow side of the trestle, the sky was completely washed out and besides by itself it was a tad dull as a photographic design. So, I used the maple tree and its bright leaves to cover the sky portion. In the process i provided a foreground, a colour contrast and some lines and shapes that added interest and variation. In other words, i was interested in making a good image and managed the frame and the camera.
