Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken on the flank of Monte Cinto, Corsica's highest mountain (2706m)

Time

A friend and I arrived to the refuge about 10pm, got some sleep and set off about half an hour before sunrise. I can't remember exactly what time I took the shot, but it was probably around 7am.

Lighting

It was a very still and atmospheric moment, as the ray's broke through the clouds the light was beautiful.. I chose B&W and darkened this down to try and capture how it felt.

Equipment

I shot this on a Sony A6000 with the Sony 18-200.

Inspiration

The view coupled with the sun rays at that moment.. my hand reached for the camera before any conscious thought.

Editing

I tweaked the contrast a little and darkened things a bit.

In my camera bag

I try and keep things as light as possible, most of the time my cosyspeed camslinger has my A6000 with the Sony 18-200, a couple of batteries, a couple of macro rings and some cleaning stuff.. oh and a spare card.. and couple of Nd filters. Occasionally I'll swap out the 18-200 for a vintage Zeiss 135 prime or a vintage 1.8 50mm Nikon, I love using the Nikon wide open with the macro rings.
