Behind The Lens

Location

The picture was taken at the gym in Montelupo owned by Cristiano where he teaches. It was my first photographic experience of a man model. I have to say that I had some doubts about the success of the photos which then, in the end, were very valid.

Time

The photo was taken on 2017-04-08 at 10.30 pm near a wall of the gym dance room.

Lighting

I wanted to create an atmosphere that would fit the sinuousness of a man's body and slim it. Christianity's plasticity (dance teacher) gave me the idea of using a fixed light that created a shadow on the wall that stretched the body almost to simulate the movement of the same

Equipment

To do this, I used my Nikon D5 with the 7-200 Nikon f3.2 iso 2000. The lighting was obtained with a Manfrotto led lamp led by a friend who helped me in the photo shoot. Free handshake.

Inspiration

Inspiration came from the plasticity of the Christian body. As he is a dance teacher, I wanted to simulate a kind of movement that I managed to get by exploiting the shadow on the wall.

Editing

After developing the Raw file, I converted the black and white photo with Silver Efex Pro. With it I adjusted contrasts and shadows. Nothing more was done.

In my camera bag

In my bag are always present my D5 and D850 with the Nikon triad composed of 14-24; 24-70; 70-200 and 85 f1.4. I also have other equipment but that's what I always do with me.

Feedback

Tips for shooting? Try to know the model to be portrayed and, based on its physicality and what it represents, to emphasize its personality. A bit inventive and .... the game is done.
