We went to a local lake one Sept. evening and as we stepped from the car, we were immediately covered in mayfly's.
As we walked around the area, I noticed this mayfly with the setting sun coming through its wings. As their life is but a brief 24 - 48 hrs., I thought how poetic s this.

Location
I took this photo at Fickell Lake in north central Alberta Canada.Time
I remember this day like it was yesterday. My wife and I had driven to the lake for a bit of relaxation and arrived around 8:45 pm. As soon as we parked and stepped out of the vehicle, we were absolutely covered in mayflies. I remember going up a small rise to check out the vantage point there as it looks to the west and the sun had just begun setting.Lighting
The lighting is all natural & was provided solely by the setting sun.Equipment
This was taken with a hand held Fujifilm pocket camera.Inspiration
I spotted this mayfly on a branch and wanted to catch the setting sun through its wings as I thought it would be appropriate as they have a lifespan of only 24 - 48 hrs.Editing
I used auto fix on Adobe Photoshop. In my camera bag
I now carry a 75 - 300 mm lens, various filters, sun shade and cleaning supplies.Feedback
The best advice I can give anyone would be to go absolutely nowhere without your camera because you just never know and the worst feeling is missing a fabulous photo op.
