So impressed with this photo. I've been trying to capture a red admiral for ages but I'm not quick enough. They keep closing their wings. I'm originally from Sutton but in UK

Thank you so much Jane! For the kind words and the identification of the butterfly. This picture was taken in my friend's garden in Sutton, WV. Peace.

Location
I took this shot at a friend's garden in Sutton, West Virginia. I am very serious about my photography hobby and always carry my camera, no matter where I go. I have perfected the art of photographing while traveling on my motorcycle. The great shots usually come at a time when I cannot stop by the side of the road, so I have to snap on the go. I most enjoy taking pictures of nature, landscapes, and performing arts. My pictures are not limited to these genres, I will shoot anything that attracts my eye.Time
This shot quickly became one of my most-viewed photos and one of my favorite all-time. A clever Viewbug member identified the butterfly as a Red Admiral. It was around noontime on a bright sunny day when I took this picture. Worst time of the day for photographing. Well, I should say most challenging time of the day. Anytime is a good time to take pictures.Lighting
I did not have much choice for this picture. As you can see by the shadows on the petals, the sun was directly overhead and very bright.Equipment
I don't recall, and have no access to the picture right now, however, I used either my Nikon D200 or D610, hand held, a Tamron 28-300 f4 lens, and a Hoya Circular Polarizer.Inspiration
Nature inspires me to take this and most of my pictures. The colors, subjects, and settings of our beautiful Earth are awe-inspiring. I spend a lot of time saying wow! when I'm out in nature. I like to attempt to capture the inspiration on a photo, difficult as it may be. I derive pleasure and satisfaction from photographing the smallest insect to the widest landscape. Everything is beautiful of one form or another.Editing
Very little. I recall cropping the photo and minor brightness adjustmentsIn my camera bag
I now carry Nikon D850 and D610 bodies, a Tamron 28-300mm f3.5-6.3, and a Sigma 24-70 1:2.8 lenses, an assortment of filters, a Flashpoint Carbon Fiber tripod, lens cleaner and cloths, flashlight, color balance cards, spare batteries and chargers, spare cards, a small taser and pepper spray, for protection from humans.Feedback
Don't capture anything similar. Shoot your own visions and finds. Aim to be the best photographer you can be.
