Is a great time of year here on Ross Island Antarctica. The sun is almost like most of the world going below the horizon at night and above in the morning. This is only for a little while as soon it will stay below the horizon for the winter season.
McMurdo Sound's sea ice broke up and floated away this year giving us open water. In this image a fresh thin layer of ice has formed though broken and cracked all over. Making a great view as the sun set color reflects off the many pieces. Winds picked up the next day and we have open water again.

This is a HDR focus stack. 3 focus points used starting at the rocks in front, mid frame on the ice and last on the hut. HDR merges done in Lightroom then the 3 images sent as layers to Photo-shop, aligned and masked to keep in focus portions.

Hope you enjoy the images. Any comments of critique, feelings, questions or anything is welcomed and encouraged.

Cheers,

Joshua Swanson
