Location
I took this photo around Lake Bilancino in Barberino Di Mugello (Florence). It was an afternoon from the spring weather and the beautiful Desideria Ghinzani (even pregnant for 3 months) lent itself to this race and these jumps that highlighted his plasticity of sports.Time
The photo was taken around 1 pm on March 18, 2017. It was a sunny day. An hour not ideal for the photos but luckily at that moment the sun veiled enough to remove those hard shadows that normally creates at that time.Lighting
Totally natural lighting. Pleasant the sparkling of the sun (filtered by a light cloud) on the water of the lake.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5 equipped with 70-200 Nikkor. Iso 320; spot detection; focal length 116 mm; f 2.8; 1/4000 speed in order to freeze the movement. I carefully focused on the point provided for the shot with the automatism. I then removed the automatism of the focus and I took the point that I had set.Inspiration
Desideria's clothing, her muscular and well-made body was the main inspiration. The contrast between the small female figure and the size of the surrounding environment was my second source of inspiration. The plastic movement of Desideria with the static and immensity of the landscape led me to Desideria to run along the embankment and make some leaps to be immortalized.Editing
At the post production level I developed the raw file slightly darkening the surface of the water and lightening the shadows on the figure of the woman. I then defined the image more with the "accentuate passage" tool in Photoshop. In my camera bag
Normally in my bag (except for having to take specific photos that require other equipment) there are now two camera bodies composed of Nikon D5 and Nikon D850. The photographic lens that are always with me are: Nikkor 14-24; 24-70; 70-200 (all 3 2.8) and 85 f1.4.Feedback
There are rules that in photography (in my opinion) are absolute. One of these is to adapt to the environment in which it is triggered and to the resumed subject. The static nature of the environment surrounding Desideria with the dynamism of the beautiful body that jumps, creates a contrast in my opinion pleasant. With a different physicality or with full sun (and therefore marked shadows) I would definitely have thought of a different photo taking advantage of the flashes on the water and playing with the shadows. In short ...... adapt to environments, subjects and equipment, trying to create something original.
