Location
I took this photo at the Pretoria state theatre while I was on a film shoot.Time
The film shoot went on all day, but this particular shot was snapped into the early hours of the evening.Lighting
The lighting was the light setup for the film shoot, a standard three point light setup with a few house lights on in the theatre.Equipment
I used a canon 5D, with a 50mm lens... No tripod or flash was used.Inspiration
We were filming close ups of the music instaments being played and while the film crew was setting up the lights, the musicians were practicing on their instruments... I decided to snap a few photos as the light was changing.Editing
I love high contrast black and white photos.. so I converted it to black and white and adjusted the levels. I also used a slight vignette to darken the edges of the image. In my camera bag
I usually have a 50mm lens, a 300mm telephoto lens and the standard 18-75mm kit lens. I also love mobile photography, so I keep a selection of mobile lenses too.Feedback
I tried to keep the iso low as possible, opened the f-stop to its fullest and then slowly changed the shutter speed until I found the lighting that I liked the most. I tried to capture the light only hitting some of the edges and not the whole image, with only a slut fill light on the subject.
