The Navajo people call this place Hazdistazí (spiral rock arches). The canyon is formed by erosion of sandstone, predominantly due to flash flooding. It's delicate curves invite you to use your imagination - you can see bears, lion and gorillas from the various shapes formed over time. The best advice I received from the guide was "don't forget to look up."
