I'm sorry, but this species is not considered tropical (entered into the Tropical Birds challenge) and so doesn't conform to the challenge rules.

Around early afternoonLighting
Had to wait for my boat to turn around so that the sun was behind me to cast its light on the lovely bird to highlight the pinks and purples! Thank God the lovely bird was patient than me and did not fly away!Equipment
Nikon D5300 with 55-200mm Nikkor AF-S DX LensInspiration
As a nature lover, taking a picture of this lovely bird was but natural. So when this opportunity knocked during my visit to the bird sanctuary during one of my annual trips, grabbed it with both hands!Editing
I avoid too much processing and like my pictures to be as natural as possible. So the only thing done to this one was cropping! In my camera bag
As simple nature and photography enthusiast, i carry my Nikon D5300, with 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens and a simple tripod in my kit. I also carry spare batteries and charger at all times. I also ensure my cell phone is handy when i have to click quick pics with it!Feedback
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Mysore, India is known to all nature lovers and photographers as a paradise to click awesome pictures of flora and fauna in any season except heavy rains! Depending on your liking, early morning hours, not so warm afternoons and the dusk times are best to capture mind-boggling pictures. What actually counts is patience and lots of it! Proper timing, light conditions and the right equipment with a right sense of thinking out-of-the-box always helps! I especially like the evening hues, rule of thirds, compositions but many a times a normal click can do wonders! Natural things in natural light without too much processing is more to my liking.
