Behind The Lens

Location

Okere falls, other side of Lake Rotorua from the city of Rotorua in New Zealand

Time

I believe this was around 4pm, light was starting to shift to golden hour

Lighting

I kind of struggled getting the right light for this subject as I was standing on potential a little island close enough with not even a step or two from falling into a rather deadly river current :)

Equipment

I had my Olympus EM-5 Mark ii with a pretty standard 15-50mm lens

Inspiration

I’m just in love with this river, one of my favourite places in the world, and I just love exploring its features, but this particular spot was alway on my mind for a photo shoot

Editing

A little... That place is quite a challenge for me photograph on the sunniest of days, so I always waited for the sun to start settling down in the evening

In my camera bag

I have my Olympus EM-5 Mark ii, I always carry my 15-50mm lens though I hardly use it anymore!! And now I carry my 100-400mm lens along with a little tiny floor tripod and a bigger tripod if I needed it.. Filters also, and plenty of wipes and a cleaning kit just in case

Feedback

It’s been quite a while since I did this photo!! I’d say be adventurous, try different angles, capturing things around your subject is good just as long as it leads the eyes back you your main subject and doesn’t over crowd the shot, in my case was the colour in the falling water
