This shot was taken at the wedding shower for my nephew's (now) wife. The joy of the occasion is truly captured in the expressions of Julie & her grandmother.Time
The shower was early afternoon inside w/ lots of windows for natural lightLighting
Large picture windows lined the wall looking out over a lake. Lots of natural light was all that was needed...and wanted for the soft effect on portrait shots.Equipment
Nikon D5300 & Tamron 16-400 zoom works great for almost every shot I take.. a great all in one.Inspiration
I wanted to record this event for family and friends.. it was cross posted throughout social media and also printed for posterity. wink.Editing
Very little processing was needed. Just minor tweak in LightroomIn my camera bag
Nikon D5300, Nikon Macro, Tamron 18-400, lens cloths, extra memory cards and if I"m out for a length of time, extra batteries.Feedback
For portrait events, make sure you take a lot. Shooting multiple people it is easy to have one 'bad' expression ruin the shot.. so take bunches.. it's cheap, just delete... wink.. I like a more candid look than the typical group put-on-the-photo-smile shots which I despise... I will often take a shot while another photographer is working a shot straight-on.. I'll shoot from the side.. a totally different and opportunity for a more natural expression.
